Common Forest La Palomera
La Palomera, Caracas
2025

La Palomera Bosque Barrio is a community-led initiative by Enlace Arquitectura to transform a degraded edge of the self-built neighborhood of La Palomera into a biodiverse park-forest. Working with local residents, the project addresses critical challenges such as informal waste dumping, lack of public space, and limited water infrastructure.
The proposal centers on reforesting 18 hectares with approximately 5,000 trees, supported by a decentralized system of nurseries and rainwater collection for irrigation. New pathways and green corridors connect the barrio internally and to surrounding areas, fostering social integration and access to shared spaces for over 40,000 people.
Beyond its physical interventions, the project promotes collective stewardship, environmental education, and sustainable practices. By linking waste management, water systems, and landscape restoration, it establishes a replicable model for inclusive urban regeneration driven by community participation, ecological repair, and local knowledge.
